 The 'Advanced Clipper' is basically a hard clipping plugin with two stages. Additional oversampling reduces alias noise. The oversampling algorithm is based on butterworth filters (as can be found in rubberfilter) and thus will affect the group delay (you can notice a delay of some samples in extreme cases).

 CMT Bitcrusher is an easy to use, opensource distortion / bit crusher / downsampler plug.
Drive
The preamplifier drive (or gain) for the distortion module. Preamp adds no extra gain by default. The range is 0-24 decibels.
First the linear gain factor (1-16 equals 0-24dBs) is calculated, then it's applied into the input signal. In the digital signal processing, this means multiplication. So basically the input signal is multiplied with a floating point number between 1.0-16.0, depending on the drive fader position.
Bit-depth
The effective bit-depth of the output signal. 24-bit is default but you can reduce the bit-depth all the way to 1-bit if you like.
The bit-reduction is done by scaling and rounding the input signal to the target bit-depth in integers and then back to floats. For example in four bits, you have to multiply the input signal by eight (2^bits-1) to floats between [-8.0, 8.0]. The actual bit-reduction (or bitcrushing) is done when the floats are rounded to integers and scaled back to [-1.0, 1.0]. This process reduces the resolution of the floats and produces audible bitcrushing-effect.
Downsampling
Controls the sampling rate of the output signal. Full sample rate is default but you can drop the sampling rate all the way to 1/40 of the original if you like. Sample and hold algorithm is used for downsampling. This means that only every nth sample is kept from the input and others are thrown away. That sampled value is then held until the next nth sample is inputted. Technically this is not a very good way to downsample however, as the process introduces lots of new frequency components into the input signal. However, some people do find that lo-fi sound very exciting and nice. That's why CMT Bitcrusher has this algorithm. |

FloatCrusher is similar to a bit crusher in the sense that they both reduce the resolution of the samples.
The samples in all vst hosts are represented by 32-bit floats, this enables huge dynamic overhead compared to integers.
Other bitcrusher converts the float to an integer and the bit reduction is a product of that conversion. The quality depends on how many bits the integer can hold. This is mostly done to mimic early (or cheap) digital equipment (samplers, home-computers and videogames)
FloatCrusher does not try to mimic the limitations of old hardware, it is designed to lower the resolution of floats in the most natural way, by just setting the lowest bits to zero. You can control how many bits you wish to clear with a slider. |

 FuzzPlus2.2 is the current version of our popular free Fuzz+ plug-in. The basis of the plug-in is a transform model of a famous vintage fuzz pedal. There are four controls:
Fuzz knob: This controls, as you might imagine, exactly how much fuzz is applied to the signal.
Tone knob: This controls the brightness of the distorted signal.
Output knob: This is the output volume of the device, when it is active.
Bypass button: This works just like the switch on a stomp box. When the orange light is lit, you're money. When it's not, the input is passed directly to the output. This can be automated for a slightly different vibe than automating the effect bypass of your host.

 GClip is a wave-shaping signal clipper. It prevents the input signal level from exceeding a specified maximum. The clipping function used can be altered to have a hard- or soft-knee.
Wave-shaping can introduce audible aliasing, especially with more drastic settings. The oversampling mode can help to minimize aliasing in such cases.
A graph showing the shape of the clipping function is displayed on the GUI. There is also a wave display that shows what effect the clipping curve is having on the signal. |

Bass: This adds the distorted Bass to the mix.
Treble: Adds the top end sparkle
Bass Delay: Allows delaying the bass which can help with phase correction
Master: The master volume output.
FX Enable: Switches the Enhancements ON/OFF for comparison purposes.

You took a Comb Filter, used it to split the frequency of incoming source material into four channels. Then took those channels and mutilated them using a variety of individual FX... then recombined said molested channels into one single sound again?
A hell of a fun mess, that's what.
NUCLEAR CRANIUM splits the incoming audio channel into; HI, LOW, MID, and ELSE frequencies. Next, PITCHSHIFTING, BITCRUSHING, WAVESHAPING, "CRUNCH", BITCRUSH, "PSYCHODELAY", and AUTOPAN FX, can all be used individually on each of the four frequencies. Lastly, nearly every single NUCLEAR CRANIUM parameter has its own internal completely configurable LFO.
You can literally, seriously, not kiddingly, make something completely new and insane, even out of your oldest most boringest loops. No hyperbole there, promise. Why would I bother to lie about this anyway?

 Reception is a strange little toy for screwing with your audio,
it does a good job at destroying what its fed...works great on beats!
-COLOR & TINT: these control the sound as well as the color on the sceen,
when both controls are at zero, they produce a phaser/flanger effect.
The higer up they go, the wierder the effect, almost like a buffer/delay.
Use these subtley for strange beat displacements. The slider to the left
controls the amt of this effect as well as mixing the two delays.
-CONTRAST & BIT: these are the lo-fi controls.
-BRIGHT:controls the filter cutoff.
-POWER: the power button at the top left turns the screen and the effect off.
-NOISE: when this button is turned on, it produces a modulated white noise
(All of the bottm controls can manipulate the noise, as well as the ring mod)
-RING MOD: this button turns on a ring modulator,
the slider to the right controls the pitch of the effect.
There is also a button with a warning label,
this can cause severe damage to your television set.
Whatever you do, do not push it!!!

Refuzznik is a distortion effect that applies a sinusoidal waveshaping function to its input signal(s). Sinusoidal distortion can be mixed with traditional shelving distortion. The relationship between input signal level and sinusoid frequency can be adjusted.

 Wavemorph was created from the combination of several ideas I was testing.
The first was user definable wave-shaping. I've seen many waveshapers based on polynomials and math functions for generating specific distortions, but this is a solution for those who want to draw in the way a waveform will actually be mangled. The x axis represents the incoming signal, and the y axis shows what values will come out.
The second concept was the emulation of old, nonlinear digital conversion. There are many bit-crushers and sample-reducers people use to add a nice layer of digital trash to a signal, but this takes bit-crushing a step further by adding in a controllable amount of nonlinearity. Additionally, bit depth can be altered for differing sample values. The lowest values of a signal can have 12 bit accuracy, while the highest values might only have a bit depth of 4.
The final idea, and my personal favorite, is dynamic morphing between wavetables. Not only can you make two separate wavetables and morph between them with the drag of a slider, you can assign the morphing to the signal's amplitude with attack and release characteristics! By dynamic morphing between tables, you can create distortion that actually changes based on the input level. You can even use it as a compressor that changes characteristics dynamically!
